Stories

This old bridge used to spand across a railway. As you can guess the railway went years.

The Rochdale to Bacup line was one of the last to be built by the 'Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway' (LYR) in 1881. The line was closed to passengers in 1947 and by 1952 a service of 2 coal trains per day travelled from Rochdale to Facit yard. By 1967 the line was closed.

If the bridge could talk, it would have thousands of stories to tell.
