Brain Jelly
Outdoor First Aid, day 2, putting it into practice.
A recap, a few 'best taught inside, mastered outside' skills added, and then out to put it all together.
Really day two is all about giving them confidence, and chances to practice, though I'll add in some experiential learning - stroke assessment, Auto-injectors and head injuries can all be taught really well outside, bandaging and slings are best indoors before outdoors.
It was whilst discussing head trauma, specifically looking in ears, that I asked the group what we might be looking for (as well as blood) and (relatively) young C replied "brain jelly", I knew she meant cerebrospinal fluid, but I also knew today's blip had a title.
8 good passes (all above 90%), another step on their volunteer journey.
