Blea Tarn

The Lakes sat under a pall of low cloud today, making for a very dank and murky day, all the colour bleached out of the landscape, but nonetheless beautiful for that, making for great monochrome images. I was planning to spend a day on the high ridges but soon opted for wandering around at relatively low level, visiting new places and paths I've not trodden before.

Starting at High Park, I headed south to Tilberthwaite Gill before turning north to grab my one peak for the day, Birk Fell Man (which by strange chance you can see pictured on far right of yesterday's blip, something I didn't realise until just now), where navigation wasn't easy in the thick cloud. I found my way down and then up the road to Blea Tarn, from where I ran on tracks through Great Langdale to Chapel Stile, Elterwater and Skelwith Bridge, following the Cumbria way back to my starting point. It turned out to be 17 miles and 3,500ft of climb. Another decent training run, this one with lots of stops for photography. I'm feeling a little tired now.
