springing

On my walk this morning, I noticed these hazel catkins and will watch to see when they lengthen into the yellow “lambs’ tails”.

Suddenly I feel like being outside more, and there is so much to do in the garden. Today I put ash (from the woodburning stove) around the apple trees. I like the idea of trees helping other trees to grow…I also collected some more barrowloads of split oak and stacked it in the woodshed (trees helping me to grow muscles!). I pruned some roses and cleared away the dead foliage from some Japanese anemones which was hiding some snowdrops.

We had a nice surprise visit from fellow blipper alyrobbo. :-)
