AGM

Another meeting, this time if is the Royal British Legion Gloucestershire County AGM, which I expected to be quite dull but not at all.
The reason it was not dull is the Chair (Chairman, Chairperson, I must try to keep up!). He is in the shape of Garry Mills, a retired Military Policeman originally from Northern Ireland, and he hasn't lost an ounce of his accent!
The military are renowned for their 'banter' and weird sense of humour, Garry has that in bucketful's so he keeps the attention of the membership sitting in front of him, you never know when he will direct something in your direction!
Apart from it being an interesting meeting, lasting a mere 2.5 hours, the County Secretary had submitted a motion which directly affected me and my fellow brothers and sisters in the Riders Branch. It was to;
"Formally recognise the established relationship between the Royal British Legion Riders Branch in Gloucestershire and the Royal British Legion Gloucestershire County. Furthermore, this motion calls for the inclusion of the RBL Riders Branch by granting them the right to appoint a delegate to attend the Gloucestershire County Conference with full delegate powers".
Which means our delegate will have full voting rights and a voice at the committee meetings.
It goes on about the vital role we play in supporting the aims and objectives of the RBL in Gloucestershire through the active participation in events, fundraising initiatives and community engagement.
I had raised this motion at our monthly meeting and our 'Better than ten pressed men', Grant, put his hand up volunteering to be our delegate in the committee. Well done Grant.
