The Aftermath
Most people who follow me will know that I lost my 96 year old dad a week ago. This necessitated a very long trip across the world to Perth in Australia. This proved to be challenging due to extreme weather conditions affecting hundreds of flights out of DFW. Inevitably I failed to arrive in time to see my dad alive one more time but I was very grateful for the time I had with him in October last year.
I spoke at the funeral today which was informal and attended with my 2 sisters and one sister’s husband by a few neighbours and a couple friends who were still alive. My dad had a good life, was a quiet, thoughtful and good father who outlived most of his peers. He died peacefully with my sister Ali by his side as she lives in Australia and was able to be there on time. It has been emotionally draining but good to be here. This view of the kangaroos is taken in the memorial park where my mum’s ashes already reside and where my dad will “join” her next week.
