Mrs. Cardinal
We got up early simply because we were awake. I made cranberry orange scones with pecans. While cleaning the kitchen, this cardinal posed for me. I could watch them all day. They surely make me smile. The birds needed a refill of seeds. While I was out, I chopped down the spent tall asters and chrysanthemum stems. The front garden looks much better. It was chilly but nice in the sun. I filled the feeder in the back but the bottom was rusted (unbeknownst to me). When I put it back on its pole, seed started pouring out. Thankfully, there is a large feeder on the same pole so I let the seed go in it. Hubby will determine if it’s salvageable. The glass sides are so pretty. I hate to give up on it. Hubby brought down a few tubs before he started taking down the wreaths and candles in the windows. I put the musical stuffed animals away off the stairs. The snowmen remain up until spring. Kristen called me after she sent pictures of her face and neck. The poor kid was diagnosed with flu and walking pneumonia. She required a breathing treatment. She has a nasty fever that won’t break. She is allergic to something and her face and neck are covered in a rash. At least she has her voice back but she is miserable. She works day and night and her body is simply worn down. The urgent care doctor told her to take Benedryl for the rash. I suggested she try to get the fever down with room temp compresses along with the Tylenol. I took down my “COVID” tree. Hubby vacuumed the wreath debris. The formal living room is all finished. I heated our chicken corn chowder soup from Renee. It was delicious. Hubby went to the grocery store to pick up non-perishable food for the food pantry collection this weekend. It’s nap time and then I need to start working on our Feb WV menu. We want to have easy meals this time. We will be there for Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day. And we are only going if the weather forecast is reasonable. We might get more snow this weekend. It’s been many years since we’ve had snow on the ground this long. I’m loving it! Have a wonderful weekend, folks! Wishing you weather to suit your preferences. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “Birds teach us to appreciate the small joys in life, like the sound of their song in the morning.” – Unknown
