Pollarding The Willows
Little Man had nursery this morning. I took him by bike, which he loved, so I went by bike to collect him later on. I had a quiet morning, which I really needed. The last two days or so been very foggy, sometimes its been thicker than other times. It was part of the reason I decided to get Little Man by bike, even though the mist had lifted a bit when I left home. The main reason was because I knew Little Man enjoys having rides in my bike.
When I popped out to get some wood, I noticed that local council had men out cutting the willow trees along the road, which is called Pollarding.¹
We had a quiet afternoon. Caleb came by, which was lovely and completely unexpected. We weren't expecting him to come by this evsning but he'd thought he would as he happened to be in the area.
¹Pollarding is a traditional tree management technique where the upper branches of a tree, such as a willow, are cut back to a specific height. This encourages the growth of a dense cluster of new shoots and maintains the tree at a manageable size. Pollarding is often used for aesthetic, practical, or ecological purposes.
