Kilrubie Hill Circular
When Mrs C came home from her breakfast meetup and asked if I wanted to do Arlo's afternoon walk with her since the sun was out, at that point, the sun wasn't actually out and I'd done the last 2 big afternoon walks, so was hesitant, but persuaded myself. Of course I had to decide where to go so thought of a walk at Eddleston which has been on my list.
The official walk was 8.5m and 3h45m so I thought we'd just do a bit of it to check it out. It starts at the Barony Castle Hotel, which is next to the Great Polish Map of Scotland. I had a quick look at the map, the sun was low so it was shaded and I decided we'd come back another time for that, so started our walk.
We caught the splendid view above about 30 mins in looking back towards Eddleston. About an hour in I suggested we take a field track back, without being sure how walkable it was, so Mrs C decided we'd continue the loop. Although the sun set about 3/4 of the way it was still light enough, even as about 100 sheep followed us (see extra) - I think they were expecting to be fed. As we were approaching the car, all I could think of was going for a pint at the local Eddleston Horseshoe Inn which then expanded out to dinner too... Mrs C was up for it, checked with Ms H at home - she didn't seem too upset! So it was just over 8 miles and 3h15m and we'd do it again a bit earlier in the day. We'd not been to the Inn before, despite passing it many many time, it was supposed to be good, it was fab, sitting right by the log fire, I have no doubt we'll be back soon. Maybe we'll have an easier day tomorrow....
