An ordinary life....

Formally introducing...

Our newest Great Niece Orla Alexandra Ellis...

All the males in Nikki's family have Alexander as their middle name after Nikki's grandad, so Orla has the female version of that.  Ellis is a mash up of both of Orla's grans' names.  A lovely idea and they are both so chuffed by it.  She is a little doll.

The day started early with getting Alan an appointment for blood tests to check his iron levels and infection markers.  He's not really been 100% since Christmas when he had antibiotics for a chest infection.  He's very pale and seems pretty tired all the time.  Still smiling but he's so stoic he could be masking pain.  Should get the blood results at the start of the week.

I had an eye test at 11.30am.  All seems well.

After lunch we headed to Andrew and Nikki's to meet Orla.  She was just finishing her lunch when we arrived and fell into a milk coma afterwards.  I got lots of lovely cuddles before reluctantly handing her to D.  She is so tiny.  Alan was 9 1/2 lbs at birth and gigantic by comparison :-)

Ele and Jen arrived with Esme, who they'd picked up from school.  Esme is smitten with her little sister and was hyper because Nikki had taken her to school this morning with Orla, so her friends got to meet her.

Orla snoozed happily in her crib while we had dinner then Nikki took Esme to Rainbows, again with Orla, so she was hyper at her Rainbows friends getting to meet her.

Orla was due a freshen up and for the first time since we'd been there she opened her eyes. Newborn's eyes always fascinate me.  They are little piercing eyes that seem to see into your soul.  Feeding time next and she scoffed her milk and drifted off to sleep again.  Such a contented wee thing.  I hope that continues.

We left not long after having made arrangements for them to come up on Tuesday when I will hopefully get some decent photos of Orla.  Need to get the camera kit looked out and organised.  Can't wait!  :-))
