Mackintosh

Hill House today. A fabulous Mackintosh home designed built for Blackie the publisher and now part of the National Trust for Scotland estate. Sadly the roughcast concrete exterior - a futuristic modern finish at the time - has not stood up to the ravages of west coast weather. So the whole building is now encased in an equally futuristic steel
mesh box to protect it whilst they decide on long term plans. You can walk up and over the roof via ‘the box’ walkways and steel steps which is certainly novel for visitors.
