Peaking too early

Up with the lark to drive Mrs. Ottawacker to work. Then, having managed to break my own glasses last night while cleaning them, I drove straight on to the opticians, where I managed to get them repaired and cleaned for free, and all this before 8am. Flushed with my own success, I vowed to make good use of my new ability to get things done… and promptly did nothing for the rest of the day. Still, getting your main chore out of the way before 8am is cause for celebration. By the way, this blip was taken at around 7:50 – how dark is it still?

Made my way to Bayshore to pick up a package, and then came home to do some writing and, at 3pm, with Mrs. Ottawacker safely home, managed to watch the exciting and nervy Liverpool game away to Nottingham Forest. Forest are just the sort of side Liverpool hate playing against. Very physical, very direct, and very defensive. Letting them score after 8 minutes was an appallingly stupid thing to do, but we gradually asserted control and battered them in the second half. Managed an equaliser, but Salah was having one of his regular woeful games, and nothing we seemed to do came off.

Downstairs to the kitchen to cook dinner, which was a turkey fricassee (using the frozen turkey from Christmas). My family adopted their usual helpful positions, seated against the wall of the kitchen, from where they provided great advice about what I was doing wrong. I found out I had had four Ricard aperitifs during the game (this is what happens when it starts at 3pm) and so did very little else for the rest of the evening, other than watch Ted Lasso. I suppose you could say I peaked too early today.
