Seeing Beyond Looking

Museum and Lunch Outing

I had a marvellous outing today to the Musée des Beaux Arts in Lausanne. It was organized by the Pro Senectute Cultural Group. There were twelve of us. We first had a guided tour with a young History of Art Student for 45 minutes and then we had half an hour to visit what we liked. We had a reserved table in the restaurant and I was thrilled to hear that the daily special is always a vegetarian meal. It was really delicious.
After lunch, I visited the museum on photography. Inspiring!

The Cultural Group meets once a month and I shall definitely be joining.

Photos:
A poster advertising the art exhibition with a painting by very well known Swiss painter Ferdinand Hodler. The museum, on the right is extremely modern and the lighting inside is exceptional.

Extra collage:
From the left, a beautiful painting of the lake and mountains, the huge museum seen from the outside. The little square 'box' is the entrance.
Lower left: the entrance with this beautiful artwork by Italian artist Giuseppe Penone. The gold leaves  on the tree are in 24-carat gold leaf. See a close up in one of the tiny squares. The black and white photograph is that of Sabine Weiss, a Swiss lady photographer born in 1924. I visited a separate building to see the photo exhibition of  her work.
The two tiny paintings at the bottom are by two famous Swiss artists.
