But it was worth it!
Prior Park Landscape Gardens, Bath
"One of only four Palladian bridges of this design in the world can be crossed at Prior Park, which was created in the 18th century by local entrepreneur Ralph Allen, with advice from 'Capability' Brown and the poet Alexander Pope.
The garden is set in a sweeping valley where visitors can enjoy magnificent views of Bath." National Trust
A long, hot, sticky day enjoying the 'delights' of public transport!
1) Bus into Bath 46 minutes late due to oil spillage closing the road so....
2) Missed connecting bus to Prior Park
3) Prior Park bus arrived at bus station, dropped off its passengers then drove away again without picking us up!
4) Eventually right bus turned up, 10 minutes late
5) Walked back down into Bath, arriving at bus station with 6 minutes to spare before return bus. After 20 minutes wait, discovered return bus was cancelled as previous bus had broken down and driver needed a tea break!! (Over 30 degrees in bus station, basically a giant greenhouse full of steaming people!)
6) Gave up on intended bus and took Airport bus, another 15 minutes wait but at least we could get on and sit down - was like sitting in a furnace!
7) Airport bus left on time but....
8) Bus got stuck in heavy traffic as there'd been a nasty accident on our route home. Turns out we were lucky though because, shortly after the bus managed to squeeze past the accident site, the whole A4 road was closed in both directions so the Air Ambulance could land.
But... it was all worth it to enjoy these beautiful gardens on a gorgeous Summer's day...
