Water Rail

Daughter #2 and I took a short trip to Big Waters nature reserve, this morning. We were delighted to see a good variety of songbirds and waterfowl, but the highlight by a long way was this water rail, Usually very shy and elusive, this obliging bird seemed happy to pose in the sun while preening and we enjoyed amazing views.
