Bummer

This morning, I received a call from a lady who claimed she was with Strand Bookstore in New York City. Strand claims to be the largest bookstore in NYC. She said the store wanted to print and stock a large number of my books, “Summoned or Not.” She sent two emails, and both looked legit and professional, with all Strand Bookstore logos and contact information. She listed a long list of promotional benefits they would provide, but I would have to pay the upfront printing costs to the tune of $1300. I told her I would think it over, and get back to her. I contacted a very reliable writer friend of mine to ask if he thought this was legit. He sent back a link showing that this is a scam. The scammers also use Barnes and Noble, and other book sellers, so they are thorough. I don’t know what else to say. This one stung, but not as badly had I been out 1300 bucks. Imagine a scammer like this targeting some senior, fixed income person, who writes as a hobby. There is a special place in the seventh circle of hell for these bastards. F ‘em.
