A harbinger of spring?

I had a lovely run down the road from Kentmere to home, past mossy walls (see extra), plenty of birdsong (excuse to stop and use Merlin app) and this skein of geese circling around Staveley.  Apparently a long piece of wool is also called a skein, so do the geese look like a long piece of wool gliding through the sky?
