Purple and Green
A Lilly Pilly tree is fruiting in the village garden.
Joseph Banks was probably the first European to taste Lilly Pilly fruit. On May 3 1770 at Botany Bay he wrote that he and Captain Cook's crew had found several trees which bore fruit .... in colour and shape resembling cherries; of these they ate plentifully and brought home also abundance ..... tho they had little to recommend them but light acid."
