St Benet’s Mill at Thurne

Up early for sunrise, we left at about 6.40am to go to Thurne Mill. The sky was overcast and a sunrise did not look promising, and it even started raining lightly. However some pink broke through the clouds and we managed to capture some images with that lovely colour. There are two pump mills at Thurne, this is not the main Thurne pump mill but the one on the opposite side of the  River Thurne, called St Benet’s Mill.

We finished up and rushed back to our lodgings for breakfast just after 9.30am. The food here is all home cooked and delicious. Our group of five (plus Justin Minns) are the only people staying here, I don't think they have many more rooms so only accommodate small groups like us for photography or birders. The Norfolk Broads is home to many birds that are not seen in other parts of the UK.

After breakfast it had turned dull with no interest in the sky. We decided to go to Happisburgh beach to photograph the broken sea defences and posts in the water - see extra. After that we found a cafe for coffee/teas and some had cake, as we had not had lunch. As we came out we noticed some colour breaking in the sky, so went off to Horsey Mill for sunset. We were treated to some lovely pink in the sky - see last extra.

It has been a full day and busy, I am feeling tired now. Tomorrow morning we are up early again for hopefully another sunrise.
