Low Tech

We spread out our street map of Los Angeles on the dining room table so we could get a better grasp of the fires, and to refresh our memories of just where one thing is in relation to another. We haven’t spent much time in LA, Eric more than me with a number of cousins living there. He loved the LaBrea Tar Pits he saw as a youth; on my first visit there, in the 70’s, I wanted to see where 77 Sunset Strip had been filmed, and I wanted to walk on the beach in Santa Monica. It’s such a huge place and really fun to just look and look at the map.

We both loved The Getty Museum when we were there in the late 1990’s, but haven’t been back since. It was The Getty we looked for on the map, but couldn’t find. We compared it to our phone maps, remembered how close it was to the 405 and just north of Santa Monica, but, no luck. We looked and looked; turns out the museum opened in 1997 and our map is from 1994!

The 13th is Eric’s birthday and he appreciated greetings from soozaday and MisterS.
