Le grand depart!
Today's the day of the 'Big Move' and the end of an era here in Belgium, but the start of our new adventure in Brighton. So far everything is going like clockwork, they're a good team of guys who even turned up last night so they could drop off some boxes and have a quick look at what furniture we've got.
As we currently live in a duplex apartment on the 2nd and 3rd floors, we've had to hire an external lift to get the bigger items down to the truck. Here you can see an action shot, and as you can see, there's no protection and it's quite a drop! The guys don't think this would be allowed in the UK due to the strict Health & Safety laws, but fortunately there haven't been any accidents so far!
It's currently 30 degrees and there's probably still another couple of hours work. The guys are sweltering in the heat, so I've been out and bought them some Belgian Trappist beers for all their hard work, I think they've earned them. Mind you, I'm not giving them to them until they've finished, otherwise we'll still be here tomorrow!
Once they've finished, Alan and I are heading to Calais where we're staying overnight ready for an early crossing tomorrow morning with Eurotunnel. We won't have internet in our new house for at least a week, and until we get UK sim cards for our mobile phones, I won't be online. Hopefully if I can find wifi I'll be able to post my blips, and if not, I'll back blip.
So apologies for the lack of comments for a while, and I'll say 'Au Revoir' from Belgium and I'll see you on the other side with a new journal name!
