It's not hard (TT503)
to see what the problem might be here ....
More time on the Church stage box this morning and I think some good progress. Once inside I could see the cable having been pulled out of the clamp had pulled several of the inners tight, caused broken strands, one broken off completely and a few shorting across. I had to get my neighbour to help with the clamp - needing four hands - but we managed to get the outer secured again. The sticky goo left from the tape might help with that :-)
I tidied up a few of the wires and re soldered the ones which were damaged. Hopefully that will make it more reliable and it will last a few more years. The cable under the floor looked ok, as far as I could see so no mouse damage if we are lucky. That chromed 'fork' in the photo is a broken off clip from one of the other sockets - just rattling about loose inside the box and probably not helping either.
We'll know later in the week if things have improved - crossing all available digits.
I’ve added an extra to show more of the inside of the box.
More on stage boxes in general here
In an ideal world I would re-solder all of the connectors with sleeving over the bare wires, but trying to do that kneeling on the floor in a cold, dimly lit church is not my idea of likely to go well :-)
Thanks to Loisbiz for hosting Tiny Tuesday.
I am hosting Wide Wednesday tomorrow.
