Ice Skating

A need of some exercise, fresh air and the urge to use the long lens saw me heading over to Moor Green Lakes. As always there is also the off chance of sighting a kingfisher on the nearby River Blackwater - though once again I was disappointed.

I was glad of the long lens (100-500mm) plus 1.4x extender as the lakes were mainly frozen with most of the bird life on the far side where they were starting to thaw.  I spotted this young swan flying across the lake before landing somewhat inelegantly on the ice, where it spread his wings before skating and sliding back towards open water.
