KK Day 5: Sunset reprised
After yesterday's tropical downpours normal service was resumed and the sun was shining on the sea when I opened the curtains. Breakfast, packed and a walk along the prom (except refurb work is being done on a lot of it) to Imago. I was kind of sussing out whether or not I could walk to Suntera Marina, not in this year with 14 kg of luggage. Good call and the Grab was less than £2.
I was early at Suntera Resort so had an iced lemon tea and odd doughnut while sitting outside in the midday sun. 'Mad dogs and' ....well you know the rest
Boat trip to Manukan island but couldn't get into room till nearly 3. It's a big room with lounge area, balcony and enormous bathroom with a shower that takes up a quarter of the room.
Spent the rest of the afternoon in the 'privacy', guest only private beach. The water is v warm. The island gets a lot of day visitors but they mostly left by 4. Strangely people here swim with life vests on, probably as they swim well. Looks odd and makes me feel very underdressed.
Decided to walk to Sunset Point. It's a path, through the jungle, all the way,1500m, and I topped along as quickly as possible to get the 6.19 pm sunset and then back before it got totally dark. A year ago I was watching the sun set over the tip of India.
Back for a second shower then off to dinner. Beer is v expensive but there is no white wine. I was serenaded by 3 troubadours, 'Sound of Silence' and 'Your Song'.
After dinner I walked to the end of the island and sat for a bit under the full moon looking back at KK. The Promenade Hotel, lit up in green, really stands out.
No WiFi in the room so no BBC TV but I'm too tired anyway. Think I may be only European here.
