Life is a Challenge!

MONO MONDAY - NOT OLD...

...JUST MORE MATURE!  Why would I call Mr. HCB “old” because if I do that, then I am acknowledging that I, too, am old - and I’m not ready to say that just yet!  So, like a good wine and cheese, we like to think that we are “more mature” - but not necessarily “more sensible”!

We nearly always ask one another when we first get up “What’s the plan for today?”  Today was no different, but Mr. HCB suggested we go out for coffee, and you know me, I’m always up for that - and told him the Domestic Goddessing could wait until later.

I knew there was a new Coffee Lounge, called “NINETY SIX” that had opened in Old Town last Saturday - so we thought we would go there to try it out - even being more mature, we still like to try new things and we don’t think that Ninety Six is anything to do with age or “Old”, which is the theme of Mono Monday this week - in fact, it is the Number of the property!

I knew that the theme in there was PINK, so thought as a nod to that, we, or rather I - because Mr. HCB says he draws the line at wearing pink - should wear pink - so put on my pink sparkly jumper and a mauve/purple scarf, together with my pink anorak, and then realised, that in any event, Mr. HCB was wearing his purple jumper.

The welcome we received was so friendly - and we were told by Dolly, the new owner, that they were child-friendly and also dog-friendly in there - I said that sadly we didn’t have any children to bring in, nor dogs, but we would be happy to enjoy a cup of coffee.

The two waitresses, Asia and Jessica, couldn’t have been more friendly and we enjoyed our coffee and the chat.  Of course, I did give all three one of my little wooden hearts - and in fact, just had three left in my pocket, so was pleased I could bless them all.  I recognised one of the customers as one of the volunteers over at DEBRA, our favourite charity shop, which is literally just over the road, and Sarah, the Manager at DEBRA also popped in - so all in all a very friendly morning.  We didn’t try any of their lovely cakes, but maybe another day!

Of course, I can’t show you how “deliciously pink” Ninety Six was, so you will have to believe that the blossoms behind Mr. HCB were very pink - in fact, I have put the original shot in as an extra, so you can see, but even that doesn't do the blossoms justice - they were really pink!

I explained to Dolly about Blip - of course I did - and said that we would make sure people knew that the décor was pink, even though it was mono today, and she was pleased that we had made the effort to wear pink in honour of our visit.  However, it is not obligatory to wear anything pink, but perhaps Dolly might give a discount to those of us who take the trouble to do so - just a thought! ;-)

It doesn’t take much to please people, does it - and it certainly made a talking point as we walked in.  I’m sure we will visit again - and perhaps we can find some children or even a dog to take in with us!

We wish Dolly and her team all the very best in their new venture - it certainly seems to have taken off well so far and hopefully, will be a great success.
