Christening Day
Leaving the UK from Hull to Rotterdam this evening after the very short trip over to organise the funeral services for my father.
We were on a P&O ferry (not sure which one) heading down the Humber as the captain announced the brand new Pride of Rotterdam, which had been christened that morning by the Queen of Holland on her son's birthday (in 2014 the day became 'King's Day, the most important day in Holland).
The ship was lit up with lights, there was lots of horn-blowing between the two boats, but apart from a few waving crew out on deck, the ferry was empty. The first passenger sailing was 3 days later.
Bit symbolic as my father went on lots of P&O cruises in his last few years and I had had a very close relationship with someone rather high up in P&O
