Old Man . . . Neil Young
Mono Monday . . . OLD
This morning when I went into the garage to look for something old for the Mono Monday challenge I had no idea it would lead to the following memory. I choose the billies because they look old and scratched and well used. We do still use them when we go camping. I later asked the forester for there age and found out they are younger than I thought. He bought three for $5 dollars from a possum trapper who had been to the sale of left over things after the Boy Scott Jamboree. This is January 1981. That lead us to remember a friends son went to that jamboree. The forester had given him a tanned Sika Deer skin to swap at the jamboree. We have a picture of Steven in the Japanese Happy Suit he got in exchange. Sika are a deer native to Japan. I also recalled Steven's delightful younger brother Phillip who I had taught in a class of mostly Maori children. He was from England and his accent and blonde hair stood out.
Thanks to Laurie for hosting this month and giving me an afternoon of nostalgia.
