Askham Fell
Caught up with my sister this morning and then headed out for a walk up from Pooley (I didn’t fancy trying to get up to Roehead) onto Askham fell. I was very glad of my spikes. The main path was nice compacted snow but heading off the main route was a different matter and often impossible to tell where some of the paths were. Luckily a few people had walked along this section before but I was occasionally in snow over my knees and had forgotten how exhausting it is. I loved how the sedges and grasses here made a welcome avenue to follow. It reminded me of Monty Don’s visit to Little Sparta and the grass avenues there.
