The Winner

It was a podium finish for Lucinda Stewart in the National Road Championships held in Perth today.  The 109 km race was held in and around Kings Park and the setting was absolutely spectacular.  Mauzee and I got quite caught up in the whole day and even spent a couple of hours watching the men’s 177km event on television this afternoon.  I have never really watched cycling races before but now I’m hooked.  It was so exciting and action packed.  Hundreds of people turned out to watch the races and every rider got cheered as they came through.  A really wonderful atmosphere all round.  It was fun watching the presentation of the medals to the three placegetters and what a backdrop with the river and the city of Perth in the background.  I believe Perth will be the host for the Nationals for the next two years as well.  We’ll have to start training Mauzee!!  I have added a fun extra image.  I had to laugh when I came across three little children waiting on the sidelines for their dad to ride past them this morning.  It was a community race and you didn’t have to be a professional to ride in it.  It looks to me like they had been waiting a while for Dad to appear :)
