Bus Trip and Arriving in Paraty
Early start, 5.50am taxi to the bus station to catch our 7.00am bus to the colonial town of Paraty, a 5-hour journey south. Last time we were here was 20 years ago when we lived in São Paulo and we came with Colleen, a good friend who was visiting us. The journey was comfortable and easy, arriving in time. One of the extras is snaps of the journey.
Lovely to be here again and the huge cobbles are even more difficult to walk on than we remember. Last time I think I was wearing flip flops. This time my sandals are a bit more sturdy and supportive!
The other extra is of the little pousada where we’re staying. It’s a 10/12 min walk from the historic centre, a nice walk along the river. It’s beautiful and has just 6 rooms. We’ve got a ground floor room and our breakfast is served just outside our room door on the verandah, overlooking the pool and gardens. Tropical and tranquil!
My main blip is off the historic centre itself. We walked in in the early evening to reacquaint ourselves and have a bite to eat. We were tired and so didn’t really walk around too much, but looking forward to wandering around. The place has as much live music as I remember and lots of arts and crafts. Just as well we’re travelling light and there’s no room in our trolley bags for our flights back to Barcelona! Well, we might sneak in a tiny little thing!
