Coccothraustes coccothraustes
This hawfinch is a rare visitor of our garden. Actually, it was the first time we saw a hawfinch in our garden as long as we can remember.
It sat on the brim of our feeder and made the thing hang over. The tits that dared to join him were much smaller.
We suspect this bird to be looking for a new place to stay. Farther down our street (the dirt road behind our house that is) a lot, a real lot of trees and tree-like bushes have been removed. Leaving no place for the animals living there. We are aware of at least a squirrel to have been forced to move.
