Winter Weather

I walked past Killingworth Lake this morning and rather liked the way the light and shadows were falling on the snowy ice covering most of the water. As you can see the birds had congregated on the only patch of water which was still liquid! Brrrr!

I was on my way to take part in a fairly new UK health study for which they're wanting to recruit up to 5 million volunteers over the age of 18 (so I "just" quaified, Lol!!). It's called "Our Future Health" and hopes to find ways of helping the next generation to spend more years of their life in robust health. It requires filling in a questionnaire and attending for a check of blood pressure, pulse, height, weight and waist measurement along with a blood sample. It's likely that one will be requested to provide more information in the future but that was all for now. It seems rather similar to the "UK BioBank" study which has been ongoing for several years but that only recruited middle-aged volunteers.
