Colorful grill

As I was walking this morning I notice the front end of this parked car. It is a BMW that is not only sporting the grunge from snowy streets, but also a unique grill in front of the engine. Only the grill on the driver’s side has color, all the other trim is dark.
Any ideas on what that’s all about?
