Unusual

Sitting in traffic in Princes Risborough yesterday, my eye was caught by this standard-looking house and an unusual plaque - "this freehold property forms part of the memorial to men of the parish of Princes Risborough who fell in the Great War".

It turns out that, "In addition to the memorial [the Market House], the decision was taken to build a cottage, on a plot of land on Wycombe Road, that had been donated to the Town.  The cottage was to be held in Trust as a home for the District Nurse, to support the people of the town.
In 1988 the cottage was no longer required for its orginal purpose and so a new scheme was established, allowing the cottage to be sold or let and the income applied to supporting the residents of Princes Risborough.
In 2004 the cottage was sold and the proceeds of the sale were invested for the future generations of the Parish."
You can see here that the cottage was originally set alone but is now sqaushed between other houses on this main road.

The Roman Catholic church was also eye-catching for its unusual design.
