I woke up in the dark at 5 AM feeling a little woozy. I went back to bed thinking more sleep should fix everything. At 8 I didn't feel improved so I had to adjust my morning. 

Our Plein Air group was invited to paint at the Colorado River State Historic Park this morning. I'd hoped to be there. I had my bag packed and my gear in the car. However, I didn't feel confident about driving off down the road if I wasn't feeling 100%.

My default here is always to sit in my backyard for a few minutes to see who flies in. Today, the white-crowned sparrows were the entertainers. They bobbed in and out of the shadows, hopped along the fence line and cuddled up in the bougainvillea. I was very surprised to find two little bodies tucked behind the blossoms. 

I missed the hummingbird completely. I had no chance catching him today. But the mockingbird showed up to regard me over his shoulder. He's often here checking things out. I've never seen him catch anything to eat. 

I'm in for the day and will have a quiet one.
