Shy Heron

A cold, but almost entirely sunny day - the first one in months. B and I went for a walk in the vineyards, which wasn’t always easy - after the recent rain and snow, the paths were muddy in the sun and icy in the shade.

We didn’t spot much wildlife - just a heron in the valley, and I only managed to get this out-of-focus picture before it flew away. In case you can’t make it out, I added a hint. 

I was looking forward to seeing an old friend tomorrow, who moved to India a few years ago and was supposed to fly to Frankfurt today. But she has missed her flight connection, will arrive tomorrow morning - 12 hours later than expected - and might be too tired for the planned meeting. A pity.
