Encounters with nature

A variety of little jobs around the house kept me occupied until the early afternoon when it was time to venture into the beautiful outdoors with my little furry friend.
It wasn’t long before the scent of deer piqued his interest and if he’d had his own way he would have been in hot pursuit of the ones I had spotted on the moorland on the other side of the stream. There were even more icicles forming on the lower edge of the crag and I enjoyed seeking them out and photographing them from different angles.
As we climbed up out of the wee glen, a tawny owl flew from its roost and, although I was sorry to have disturbed it, I enjoyed the sight of its incredibly silent movement as it disappeared into the trees. A few steps further on I spotted the deer I had seen at a distance earlier. Fortunately, I had Bertie on a short lead by this time so the stars of my blip just stood and watched us inquisitively and I was able to capture this shot before leaving them in peace and returning to the warmth of home.
