A stunning winter day

We wanted to make the most of such a day, so decided to walk up Fairfield from Rydal.  It was very quiet, very white, not icy but decidedly Arctic - with wind chill we reckon it was -8 on the summit.  The views all around made it worth the effort, but we quickly left the summit plateau and enjoyed our route down to Grasmere.
