Escape!
I managed to get out today - got the bus to Wetherby (one of the new whizzy electric ones - a very nice ride) and collected a few bits from the supermarket. The paths in town were pretty clear, so ice/snow was not a problem.
This afternoon I went out for a short walk (2.2 miles) up towards the old A1 lay-by. I walked on the roads in the village and on the ‘grass’ along the path..snow was well trodden down on there, so I avoided the ice.
Tried out a ‘new’ feature on my camera - digital zoom. This gives up to 4x the optical zoom. So in theory up to 800mm in 35 mm equivalent.
This shot is taken at max zoom and is uncropped (apart from a wee bit lost to straightening the image - even though the camera indicated it was level when I took it). The EXIF still shows the ‘optical’ focal length, sadly there is no data in the file to indicate the zoom factor (that I can see) - I just know this was 4x as I was trying it out!
The down side is that you have to shoot in jpeg format, so lose the RAW editing capabilities….but as this was shot in good light, I think it looks pretty good.
