In the kitchen.
The Feast Day of Saint Marcian.A Saint of Constantinople who was always aiming to please God with prayer and fasting. He modelled his life on John the Baptist but was born to a wealthy family, therefore he started life well provided for. He restored and built churches. He was a model of goodness and Christ like virtue.
Also, the birthday date of Saint Philomena. Patron Saint of infants and babies.
Today was very cold from the start.
It had been minus 7c over night. The bird's water was very solid ice and even a kettle of hot boiling water was not enough to melt the very cold disc of ice.
I put some bird food out in the usual places and I was happy the regular feathered friends appeared, including a visitor I was not expecting, a healthy looking bullfinch.
It is 3pm now and 0c with welcome sunshine and a light blue sky. I am thankful for the light.
Escape to the Country is on and they are in Suffolk this time.
I have never visited Suffolk.
I stayed in today as the pavements in the Close look potentially slippery. They are covered in pure white snow and look frosty too. There is black ice about.
The side streets are not all cleared.
Well, we have reached Friday thank goodness so let's hope the promised milder weather will happen and the ice can then melt leaving the dread of falling on slippery surfaces a memory of this January.
Take care blip friends.
