Cumbria Here I Come

By marpaul

A blue sky day today.  Did my usual walk first thing along the beach.  Later on in the morning my sister and her hubby took me for a walk at Alresford.  We stopped off to have a look at some church ruins - St  Peter's which was built around 1300 and destroyed by fire in 1971.  I like the shape of what might have been a window? in extras.

We then did a walk by the creek and as we neared the end of the walk we had to go through mud!  I've never had to walk through mud like that, it was up to our ankles and very slippy.  My poor sister was having to hold on to me and her hubby.  Amazingly we got through it without losing any footwear or falling!

I've been told that today's blip of some disused rustic equipment near a gravel pit was probably used for the transportation of sand and gravel from the pits down to the creek for onward travel on black bottomed barges.
