While We Wait
An interesting morning exploring the area around Bridgeton Cross and a visit to the Glasgow Women’s Library to see the While We Wait portrait exhibition by Rayna Carruthers. The photographer live in Jordan for a year and documented the lives of displaced women, many of whom are forced to live undocumented and stateless.
I hadn’t realised that globally only 1% of refugees are resettled through official UN programs, as Western nations remain unwilling or unable to offer sufficient support.
The library was warm, friendly and very lively with various groups meeting to chat, plan, craft and learn.
