Snow

Not a lot, and thankfully starting to melt by the time we got on the road.

I took my Mum for her eye hospital appointment today.  Right old catalogue of errors on the way there - ultimately, we had to laugh (after I'd done a lot of swearing).

First, Mum's carer was over half an hour late (due to the snow), which made us late setting out and cancelled out all the contingency we'd tried to build in.  Then, when we got to Yeovil hospital, I had to drive round and round the multi-storey car park in a fruitless search for a vacant parking space.  Eventually, after about 20 minutes of this, I phoned the hospital to let them know our predicament - only to be told Mum's appointment wasn't there but was in fact at a different clinic across town.  Not the hospital's fault - Mum had misread the letter.  We still needed to park in order to be able to pay and get out of the car park, so drove round once more, and then three spaces came free at once.  I paid £3.20 for the privilege, and we left the car park almost exactly half an hour after we'd entered it.

Finally got to the correct clinic 45 minutes late - but thankfully the doctor could still see Mum.  We had another disaster in the waiting room, but I won't go into detail here.  (It involves a catheter bag and a cack-handed daughter.)   Anyway, the appointment went OK - albeit with the outcome of poor Mum needing a couple of injections in her eye.  Ow!  First one to be done in a couple of weeks.

We grabbed some lunch after and ate it in the car, then drove back to Mum's - and I worked from there in the afternoon, then cooked us a tasty dinner (if I do say so).  I took myself up to bed nice and early after all that!
