Thursday
My day started at about 8am - late start for school due to the temps. My car was iced up inside too, that doesn't normally happen. 20 mins later & I was off. I wasn't at work for long as I finish my week part way through Thursday mornings & off I went for a walk.
I went around the res & boy, the top side was tough going, even with boot grippers on (Yaktrax ice grips). The people who didn't have anything like that on their boots were slipping and sliding all over the place. The main problem was that the footprints in the deep snow had frozen and so didn't collapse when you trod on them. Definitely ankle breakers.
Anyway, being careful worked, and the road was fine. Totally spectacular on the tops and difficult to catch with the camera. Icicles, a vast blinding whiteness in the sunshine, a spectacular mist in the distance - stunning!
This red grouse obliged with a pose for about a second and my extras are a view of Holme Moss (still closed) and a solitary tree in the mist.
