Queen elect - Aisling

Bought my Ferry Fair programme today! Next week is Ferry Fair - a week of entertainment and festivities culminating in the crowning of the Queen on Ferry Fair Day - Saturday 10 August. The fair in its current form was resurrected in the 1930s but the original fair dates back to the 17th Century. One of the most memorable sights is the Burry man who is stitched into a suit covered in burrs and paraded round the town. A pagan figure in modern times. So glad my boys are too old to take part anymore -no more arch building - did everything from soldiers at a sentry box to a jungle full of mdf an tinfoil animals!
