Blue or white?

This is as bad as it gets; so far we have avoided snow, although it has been bitterly cold.  I am intrigued by poorly exposed photographs of snow that appear blue instead of white.  The sensor takes an average setting and screws it up!  In this case the frost on the car is situated in shadow and appears slightly bluish, whereas a few yards away the road is in sunlight and it appears white, as it should.

Should we get snow I'll out experimenting.
