Today we were in beautiful Madeira.
Had a morning trip out to see the North and the West of the island. Our first stop was at Machico. Plenty of time to see the amazing church there and a wander along the prom. The nativity was still up on the church and it took over a huge area - very impressive.
Our next stop was at Porto da Cruz - my photo - a viewpoint overlooking Eagle rock. Continued up the mountains up to 16,000 metres - certainly made the ears pop!
Next was Santana Faial - a little village in the mountains where there was a trout farm - and a coffee shop! Another stop by a famous sculpture of Mary with a rosary around her made from chains of shops that were destroyed during the war. Then back to the ship.
This afternoon we walked along the seafront and went up the mountain in a cable car. That was great although it was a bit wet at the top!
