Polystyrene from the sky
We had a fair bit of hail overnight. Enough that it was loud enough to wake me up as it hit the Velux windows. It also woke Kara up so I went through to her. She asked if I “could turn the crackling noise off”. An accurate description I thought. I just explained it was hail and it magically stopped anyway.
Normally I’ve seen hail fall and then melt but because of the low temperatures it stuck around all day. On the car it just looked like someone had dumped a load of polystyrene balls on top of it. The hail stuck to the snow on the paths and weirdly provided a little bit more grip. Still pretty dicey at times though.
