Iconic

We went into Reading shopping on Saturday. Not the crowds you'd normally expect for the New Year sales.

Reading has new lights this year, and I see that the iconic Forbury Lion (a feature in the town centre gardens) has been immortalised in the Christmas lights by the equally iconic Jackson's Corner (a department store for many years). Other lights featured the Reading skyline, whilst those on the main (Broad) street had central cameos that didn't appeal to me so much (may have been better at night?).

Actually the purple number 17 bus is itself considered so iconic that one of the cameos is dedicated to it! And, in the distance, the chequerboard tower of St. Laurence's church and the towers of the Town Hall.
