Abstract Ice Patterns

I was walking the dog this afternoon along the edge of the salt marsh and noticed these abstract globular patterns in the iced over pools. Initially I thought they were where the ice was thickest but quickly discovered that the were in fact air bubbles under the ice (see extra for overview).
